SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION

School is officially back in session! We trust that everyone has enjoyed a fantastic summer. If it was anything like ours, it was filled with excitement. As we bid farewell to the summer season, we want to emphasize the significance of well-child check-ups as our kiddos head back to school.

Ensuring our children are healthy and ready for the new school year is crucial. Regular check-ups track their progress, and address various developmental concerns, while also supporting their mental and emotional well-being. By prioritizing these appointments, we set them up for a successful academic year.

Our team is excited to provide Speech, Occupational, Physical, and ABA Therapy services that promote children’s growth in both their development and social skills. Let’s work together to ensure our kids are healthy, happy, and prepared to excel in their learning journey!

MANAGEMENT REFLECTIONS

As the summer days wind down and the school year begins, we are reminded of the seasons of change that are a natural part of life.  While we understand that this season of life may look different for many, each season marks a fresh start – an opportunity for our children and families to step into new routines, challenges, and achievements.  At Cole Health, we are honored to continue serving our community through these transitions.  We know the typical back-to-school season can bring both excitement and a little uncertainty, especially for the families we support.  Our commitment remains steadfast in providing care, guidance, and a supportive environment for every child and family as they embark on what could be a new journey.

Whether it is helping families adjust to new schedules, providing the therapeutic care and development their child needs, or simply being a resource for encouragement, we are here to walk alongside you every step of the way.  We will work together to build bright futures for all the children and families we serve.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT

GETTING TO KNOW WHITNEY PHELPS, MS-CCC/SLP, REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF REHABILITATION – COLE PEDIATRIC THERAPY (SAN MARCOS, TX)

Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WITH COLE?
A: 6 Years

Q: ABOUT ME
A: I started at Cole as a SLP at the San Marcos clinic and then transferred to the South Austin location. After 4 years, I was promoted to the Clinical Competency Specialist role for Central Texas and helped create and build the foundation of the position. Once that position was up and running with full force, I was promoted to Director of Rehab at the San Marcos location. With recent changes made across the central Texas region, I have now accepted the role as Regional Director of Rehab covering the San Marcos, Schertz, and Stone Oak locations.

Q: WHY COLE?
A: Over the past 6 years, Cole has served as a second family for me. I have enjoyed the structured work environment and the consistency. I have always felt supportive by all the staff, therapist, and upper management as I continue to learn, grow, and evolve into different roles here.

COMPANY HIGHLIGHTS

PUTTING PATIENTS FIRST: HURRICANE BERYL RESPONSE

As many know, Houston faced a devastating storm that wreaked havoc across the city for over a week, leaving many of our clinics without power for several days, impacting staff and patients alike. Despite these challenges, our team quickly united to ensure our patients could receive the care they needed.

In response, staff members from various locations collaborated to reschedule appointments, cover caseloads, and adjust daily operations to accommodate patients at clinics with restored power.

HELIPING KIDDOS USE THEIR VOICE: AAC AT SCHOOL

Every child has the right to express themselves. To support this, Cole Health’s AAC Committee has thoughtfully created a letter for our therapists to share with schools, specifically for patients who utilize AAC devices.

This letter aims to offer guidance for school personnel on how to promote and support the use of AAC devices, highlighting the importance of ensuring accessibility within the classroom environment.
